What is Evolutionary Arcade?

Evolutionary Arcade is a free arcade for browser games made with AI. Your coding agent publishes a game with our arcade CLI, anyone can play it from a link, and anyone can remix it into a new game. Every game's code is public, and every game is MIT-licensed.

Is Evolutionary Arcade free?

Yes. Playing is free, and publishing and hosting your games are free too. There is no paid plan. Each game gets its own page and its own web address at no cost.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Anyone can open a game's link and play it without an account. You only sign in to publish, comment, favorite a game, follow someone, keep your progress in games that save it, or post a leaderboard score.

How do I publish a game my AI agent made?

Ask your coding agent to publish it with one prompt: "Help me put my games on Evolutionary Arcade (evolutionaryarcade.com). Install its CLI with npm i -g evolutionary-arcade, run arcade skills install, then run arcade guide onboarding and follow that guide step by step in this chat. No restart needed."

The agent installs the CLI, you approve the sign-in in your browser once, it shows you every file that will go public with arcade publish --dry-run, and on your go it runs arcade publish --yes. Read the step-by-step guide.

Does my agent need any special setup?

No. Your agent needs Node 20 or newer and one global install, npm i -g evolutionary-arcade. Signing in is one browser approval, and the agent doesn't need a restart. If your game has a demo video, install ffmpeg too, because publishing makes a GIF from it.

Which coding agents work with Evolutionary Arcade?

Any agent that can run shell commands can publish with the arcade CLI. arcade skills install adds six agent skills for Claude Code and Codex: onboarding, getting started, building games, remix and blend, fork, and publishing. For any other agent, arcade guide <name> prints a skill straight into the chat.

What can the arcade CLI access on my computer?

When you publish, the CLI uploads only the folder you publish, and it skips links that point outside that folder. It also keeps its own sign-in file (~/.config/evolutionary-arcade/credentials.json), and arcade skills install writes the skills into your agent's skills folder. It reads no agent logs.

Will the CLI upload my API keys or secrets?

No. It never uploads .env files, SSH keys, certificate and key files, credentials files, .git or node_modules. Before it publishes, it scans the files for OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS, GitHub and Slack keys and private keys, and it stops and shows you where it found one.

What is the difference between a remix, a fork and a blend?

A remix is any new game made from another game, and there are two kinds. A fork starts from one game's code and makes it your own. A blend mixes two to eight games into one new game. On a game's page, the buttons say Fork and Blend. See examples.

What is a regen?

A regen takes a game's prompt, without its code, and has a model build a fresh take on it. The new take joins that game's stack of versions, so you can compare how different models built the same idea.

Who owns a remix of my game?

The person who made the remix owns it, under the MIT license, and it always credits you. Every fork and blend links back to the games it came from, and it has to keep your license notice. You keep the copyright on your original game.

What license do games on Evolutionary Arcade use?

Every game is MIT-licensed, with no other license to pick. You keep the copyright, and the game's LICENSE names you. Anyone can play it, read its code, download it, fork it or blend it, as long as they keep that notice. Read the terms.

Can I see and download a game's source code?

Yes. Every game's code is readable in your browser at evolutionaryarcade.com/g/<game>/code, and Download .zip saves a whole version. arcade fork downloads a game's code into a folder so your agent can start changing it.

A wooden catapult tosses a glowing game cartridge across the sky to creatures waiting on a far hill.

Can I play on my phone or with a controller?

Yes, for games that support them. Games run in the browser on computers and phones, and each game says which inputs it supports. Browse filters games by keyboard, controller and mobile. On a phone, a game opens in a fullscreen player.

Is it safe to play games made by AI?

Each game runs in a sandbox on its own address, <game>.evolutionaryarcade.games, apart from the arcade itself. A game can't call outside websites, can't use your camera, microphone or location, and can't read your arcade sign-in. You can report any game with its Report button.

A little fishing boat with a glowing lure floats on a calm turquoise bay.

How big can a game be?

A game can be up to 50 MB, with up to 800 files and up to 25 MB per file. Screenshots can be up to 5 MB and videos up to 25 MB. Each account can publish 30 times and upload 500 MB a day.

What kinds of files can a game include?

Games are built from web files: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON, WebAssembly and shaders, plus images, 3D models (glTF and GLB), audio (MP3, OGG, WAV, M4A), video (MP4, WebM) and fonts. Source files like TypeScript and Python are served as text, so people can read them.

Can I see which AI model made a game?

Yes, when the maker shares it. Each game has a Model card that names the model and the harness that built it, and it can show the prompts, tokens and build time. The agent fills it in when it publishes, and every field is optional.

Can I update a game after I publish it?

Yes. Publish again from the same folder and the arcade makes the next version of the game, at the same link. arcade pull brings your published game back down to your computer, and you can unpublish and republish a game at any time.

How do I share my game with friends or viewers?

Send them the game's link. Every game has its own page at evolutionaryarcade.com/g/<game>, and nobody needs an account to play it. arcade share prints the link, a line for a video description and a ready post for X.

Paper planes folded from playing cards glide off a sea cliff toward faraway towns.

How do I sign in?

You can sign in with Google, GitHub, Discord or X. The arcade keeps only your account ID and a verified email (plus your GitHub username if you use GitHub), and X shares no email. Your agent signs in with arcade login, which you approve in your browser.

Can I publish a game based on someone else's game?

Only publish what's yours to share. Code, art, sound and fonts from other people keep their own licenses, and you need a license or permission that lets you publish them. To build on a game that's already on the arcade, fork or blend it, which keeps the credit and the link.

How do I report a game or ask for a takedown?

Use the Report button on any game or comment, after you sign in. If a game uses your work without permission, email hello@evolutionaryarcade.com with a link to it, what it copied and how to reach you.
