Evolutionary Arcade is a small, open arcade of browser games. This page says, in plain words, what we store and why.
You can play without an account
Playing games needs no sign-in. To count unique players, your browser remembers which games it has played before (a note in local storage, not a cookie). Nothing is sent about who you are: the arcade only receives the game, how long it was played, and whether this browser played it before. On phones and tablets, your browser also remembers your Mobile filter setting.
When you sign in
You can sign in with whichever of Google, GitHub, Discord, or X the sign-in page offers. We keep only your account ID from each (and from GitHub, your username), plus your email address when that service says it's verified. We use them to recognize you when you come back, and a verified email that matches your account lets a new sign-in join it. We never show your email publicly, and we never use anything else in those accounts.
Each service shows what it shares before you agree. GitHub shares your email addresses (we keep the verified primary one) and your username, which we keep so you can publish games from repos you own. X shares no email, and requires read access to your profile and posts to share your account ID; we only read the ID.
You choose a public handle. Your avatar and display name start out generated, and you can change them.
What's public
- Games you publish, including their full source code, screenshots, videos, and anything you add to the Model card (models, prompts, tokens, build time). Every published game is open source under MIT by design.
- Your handle, display name, avatar, banner, bio, links, favorites, comments, prompts, and upvotes on prompts.
What we keep private
- Your email address and the account IDs of the services you sign in with.
- Session cookies that keep you signed in on the website, and login tokens for the arcade CLI.
- Reports you send about games or comments.
- Progress that games save to your profile.
- Your best score on each game leaderboard you post to while signed in. Leaderboards show it publicly with your handle.
- Basic server logs, kept for a few days to fix problems.
Who else sees data
The arcade runs on Cloudflare, and sign-in uses the service you pick: Google, GitHub, Discord, or X. Comments and prompts may be checked by an automated moderation service before they post. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. We don't sell data and we don't run ads.
The arcade CLI
The CLI uploads the game folder you publish and nothing else from your computer. The Model card's model, token, cost, and time numbers are whatever you or your agent write in arcade.json; the CLI doesn't read logs or anything else to fill them in.
Games are separate
Every game runs on its own address under evolutionaryarcade.games, a separate site from the arcade. Games can't read your arcade session or reach other websites. A game that saves progress asks the arcade page for its own save, and gets nothing else. A game with leaderboards hands the arcade page a score, and gets back only your best and rank.
Deleting your account
Email privacy@evolutionaryarcade.com and we'll delete your account. Forks and blends other people made from your games stay up, and credit you as the source.
